SHAH ALAM, Oct 26 — Menteri Besar Dato' Seri Amirudin Shari took time to watch the Petronas Malaysia MotoGP 2025 race at the Sepang International Circuit (SIC) today.
He said that it was exciting to witness the performance of Malaysia’s young rider Hakim Danish Ramli, despite the latter having to withdraw at the last minute due to technical issues.
“Nevertheless, his fighting spirit and courage should serve as an inspiration for young people to continue striving forward in the world of motorsport,” Amirudin said in a Facebook post.
Also present were Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Ahmad Zahid Hamidi, Youth and Sports Minister Hannah Yeoh, and Transport Minister Anthony Loke, who came to show their support for the world-class sporting event.
He added that the state government remains committed to supporting the development of motorsports as a platform to nurture new talent and elevate Malaysia’s reputation on the international stage.
The Malaysia MotoGP 2025 features participation from top riders worldwide, further strengthening the nation, particularly Selangor, as a leading motorsports hub in the region.
Earlier, Hakim, who made his Moto3 wildcard debut, described his participation in the prestigious event as a valuable experience, despite being forced to retire early due to technical problems.
The 18-year-old encountered a mechanical issue with five laps remaining, while he was battling fiercely within the top 10 in front of thousands of local supporters.
He said that his bike suddenly stalled at the first corner, forcing him to withdraw from the race.
