Igniting VSY2025: Tourism Selangor hosts Malaysia-Japan cultural exchange programme

SHAH ALAM, Oct 26 — Tourism Selangor, in collaboration with SK Perempuan Methodist Klang, organised a cultural exchange programme involving students from Malaysia and Japan as part of efforts to promote the Visit Selangor Year 2025 (VSY2025).

It said the programme on Thursday (October 23) was attended by 67 students and 10 management representatives from the Singapore Japanese Elementary Changi School, together with local students from the Klang district.

“Tourism Selangor is confident that such initiatives can strengthen international relations and enhance understanding of Selangor’s culture and tourism industry among foreign students and teachers.

“This programme also indirectly supports the objectives of VSY2025 by showcasing Selangor’s unique cultural and heritage attractions on the global stage,” Tourism Selangor said in a Facebook post.

The event began with an opening performance of the Keroncong Selangor dance, followed by a silat demonstration and traditional games like batu seremban and congkak, which received enthusiastic participation from the international students.

In conjunction with VSY2025, the state government aims to attract eight million visitors, with tourism transactions expected to reach RM11.7 billion.

Throughout the campaign, over 100 tourism-themed programmes will be held, focusing on eco-tourism, agro-tourism, and arts and culture.
