SHAH ALAM, Dec 21 — A range of promotional programmes and collaborations with the hospitality industry are being implemented throughout the fourth quarter of this year to ensure the target of eight million tourists for Visit Selangor Year 2025 (VSY2025) is achieved.

State executive councillor for local government and tourism Dato' Ng Suee Lim said hotel operators are offering special packages and promotions to encourage more visitors to stay overnight in the state.

“The same applies to water theme parks. Operators are offering lower prices to attract visitors, especially families.

“School holidays have now begun, along with Christmas celebrations. More shopping vouchers and discounts are being offered. All of these initiatives form the final push before VSY2025 ends,” he told Media Selangor.

Ng added that, as of the third quarter of this year, the state has received 6.4 million visitors, representing 80 per cent of the target of eight million tourists for the year.

“The ‘Nak Bercuti? Pusing Selangor Dulu’ campaign will also continue to be promoted on social media.

“The total number of tourists will only be known in February next year. However, we are confident the target can be achieved based on previous visitor numbers,” he said.

Previously, the state government set a target of 8 million tourists for VSY2025, with potential economic transactions totalling RM11.7 billion.
