SHAH ALAM, Oct 26 — Selangor is no longer merely an industrial state, but has also emerged as a hub of knowledge and innovation, driving societal progress founded on ideas and creative thinking.
Menteri Besar Dato' Seri Amirudin Shari said the ability to generate new ideas is fundamental to the development of both Selangor and the nation, and therefore must be strengthened through initiatives like Festival Idea @ Selangor.
“Selangor is not only advanced in terms of its economy and infrastructure, but has also become a centre for educational activities and disseminating knowledge.
“It is human ideas and thinking that build civilisations and ensure the progress of a nation,” he said during Festival Idea @ Selangor at Dewan Agung Tuanku Canselor in Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM) yesterday.
Amirudin added that the public must recognise the importance of human ideas and intellect as the highest elements in development, so that modernity does not trap people in a meaningless world.
Meanwhile, UiTM vice-chancellor Prof Datuk Shahrin Sahib @ Sahibuddin said the festival serves to highlight research and innovation outputs to the public, while fostering a culture of creative, critical, and collaborative thinking.
“Through this festival, we strive to shape a future grounded in knowledge and values, where universities, industries, and communities work hand in hand to create a dynamic and impactful ecosystem of ideas,” he said.
Shahrin noted that such programmes are vital to strengthening collaboration between the education, government, industry, and community sectors towards a sustainable and competitive state.
