SHAH ALAM, Oct 25 — The Selangor government is looking to make the Festival of Ideas (FOI@Selangor) an annual event to strengthen knowledge, innovation and creative thinking among the people.
Menteri Besar Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari said the move is in line with efforts to make Selangor a national knowledge and innovation hub that can produce a competitive, progressive-thinking generation.
“The state government will make an effort to form strategic partnerships with various agencies and education institutions to make the Festival of Ideas a yearly event.
“Our goal is to stimulate ideas, thinking and new discoveries in the education and community development ecosystem,” he said after launching FOI@Selangor at Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM) here today.
Amirudin added that the festival is not just an exhibition space, but a platform that gathers students, educators, researchers, and industry players to exchange views and strengthen knowledge and innovation networks.
He suggested the FOI@Selangor be combined with the Selangor Education Summit (SES) to expand benefits through the sharing of expertise, research and innovation that is relevant to current needs.
The inaugural SES last year featured four main education-based expos, including the Selangor Research and Innovation Expo (SRIE) and the Selangor Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics Education Expo (STEM).
