SHAH ALAM, Oct 20 — State executive councillor for human resources and poverty eradication Papparaidu Veraman hopes the 2026 Selangor Budget will have more funding for education and welfare programmes benefitting the Indian and Orang Asli communities.
He said that education is vital and must be prioritised to ensure that no student is left behind, noting that additional funding would help more students, particularly from the Indian and Orang Asli communities, to pursue higher education.
“We hope there will be increased assistance for deserving students, especially among the Indian and Orang Asli communities and those from low-income groups, to enable them to continue their studies at diploma and degree levels,” Papparaidu said.
He was speaking to the press during the Deepavali Open House at the EXCO Residential Complex in Section 7 today.
Papparaidu also thanked Menteri Besar Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari for his continued emphasis on the people's education and welfare.
“I thank the Menteri Besar for consistently prioritising education and the people’s well-being. The state government has also strengthened cooperation through the Sejahtera Madani programme to support low-income groups,” he said.
The 2026 Selangor Budget is scheduled to be tabled on November 14.
