SUBANG JAYA, Oct 14 — The Ex Gasak emergency training simulation was launched at the Sultan Abdul Aziz Shah Airport today to test enforcement agencies’ responsiveness and airport operations during sabotage incidents.
Sultan Abdul Aziz Shah Airport manager Ahmad Fikri Samsudin said the simulation involved a full-scale scenario of an incident that could affect daily operations, including hazardous chemical leaks and high-profile kidnappings.
“All procedures were done according to the Airport Contingency Plan (ACP). It improves our collective ability to act quickly and decisively in emergency situations.
“As an airport operator Malaysia Airports Holdings Bhd (MAHB) works closely with various airport stakeholders as part of our responsibility for the safety of passengers and the airport community,” he said.

The main agencies involved in the simulation were the Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM) and the Fire and Rescue Department (JBPM).
Fikri said the drills were also done in conjunction with the Asean Summit on October 26 to 28.
“We were made to understand that there are important international arrivals at the Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA) and Subang. The Subang airport is ready and we have held several meetings with the Foreign Ministry.
“However, here, we will only receive delegations of ministerial status and below,” he added.

Fikri said that although the drills aren’t specific to receiving Asean delegates, safety preparedness is being prioritised for all flight operations.
“Drills like these are also done for daily flight operations, including those involving domestic and international passengers. They are important to ensure any incident can be well managed.
“The MAHB is always prepared and confident in the excellent coordination among all agencies, and Asean delegation arrivals will go smoothly and safely,” Fikri added.
