KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 10 — Building on its success and strong brand recognition, the Selangor International Business Summit (SIBS) is likely to expand its footprint across the Asean region, said state executive councillor for investment, trade, and mobility Ng Sze Han

This is a result of SIBS being touted as one of Southeast Asia’s leading trade and investment platforms.

“Building upon these strong foundations, our vision for SIBS is clear, which is to elevate the summit into Asean’s premier platform for business collaboration and innovation, one that fosters economic exchange, strengthens regional ties, and unlocks new opportunities.

“To achieve this goal, we may explore expanding the SIBS brand into different locations in the region in the future,” he said during this year’s SIBS appreciation dinner for trade attendees, delegation, and vendors tonight.

Ng added that Malaysia’s Asean chairmanship this year offers Selangor the opportunity to play a pivotal role in championing inclusivity and growth across the bloc.

In his welcoming remarks, Invest Selangor chief executive officer Dato’ Hasan Azhari Idris announced that the 2025 summit, which drew delegations from over 20 countries, had attracted 44,196 visitors by its third day.

“As of the end of day three, SIBS 2025 recorded 44,196 visitors, and with the momentum carried into the final day, we are confident of exceeding the 50,000 mark.

“But beyond the numbers, what truly matters are the connections made, the collaborations formed and the new opportunities created,” he said.

Hasan noted that the summit has become a trusted platform for businesses and governments to connect and collaborate, adding that its success lies not only in high participation but also in the breadth of sectors it spans, from food and beverage to aerospace, digital economy, and care services.

This year features exhibitors and delegations from countries including the Philippines, Indonesia, Cambodia, Laos, Brunei, China, Japan, Singapore, Saudi Arabia, the United Kingdom, France, Chinese Taipei, Finland, and Kenya.

The state government has set the transaction value of RM10 billion for the year. This is a modest estimate, set even though last year's event achieved a record RM13.86 billion in transactions.
