SHAH ALAM, Oct 10 — Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim has announced another round of one-off RM100 Sumbangan Asas Rahmah (SARA) aid to 22 million eligible Malaysians, which will be distributed in February.

Anwar, who is also finance minister, said citizens aged 18 and above are eligible for the aid, which is intended to help them prepare for Ramadan and Chinese New Year.

He said that in the first round of distribution on August 31, more than 70 per cent of the aid had been spent.

“As announced previously, any unspent balance by December will be reallocated to programmes benefiting the underprivileged,” he said when tabling Budget 2026 in Parliament today.

Anwar said that next year, all nine million recipients of Sumbangan Tunai Rahmah (STR) will also receive SARA of up to RM100 per month.

Meanwhile, one million STR recipients under the e-Kasih category will receive SARA of up to RM200 per month, while single individuals will receive RM600 a year, equivalent to RM50 per month.

“The maximum amount to be received by a household is RM4,600, comprising families earning below RM2,500 per month with five children, who will receive RM2,200 in STR and RM2,400 in SARA.”

Anwar said the total allocation for SARA and STR in 2026 has been increased to RM15 billion from RM13 billion this year, thanks to savings from the RON95 and diesel subsidy rationalisation.

Meanwhile, the prime minister said the STR Phase 4 payment, originally scheduled for November, will be brought forward to October 18 in conjunction with Deepavali.

“The government has also approved a 50 per cent toll discount for two days in conjunction with the (Deepavali) festivities.”
