SHAH ALAM, Oct 10 — The development of the Selangor Aero Park (SAP) in Sepang has been touted as among key strategies that would help attract high-value logistics investments into the country, the Dewan Rakyat heard today.
Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim said the 242ha project developed by the Selangor government and Malaysia Airports Holdings Bhd (MAHB) will serve as a regional logistics and cargo hub.
“Although the coming year is expected to be more challenging, Malaysia remains prepared to attract more investments through a strategic and targeted approach,” he said when tabling Budget 2026 in Parliament today.
Anwar, who is also finance minister, said the efficiency of the logistics sector will be enhanced to ensure faster, more cost-effective economic activities that benefit investors, industries, and the people.
The SAP, which was launched in June, is part of the Malaysian Aerospace Industry Blueprint 2030’s vision to generate RM55.2 billion in annual aerospace revenue.
Spanning 242ha within KLIA Aeropolis, the park has a potential gross development value (GDV) of RM2.3 billion.
The location also benefits from high accessibility to Port Klang, strengthening its multimodal logistics proposition.
Apart from the SAP, other initiatives include the empowerment of MAHB, which Anwar said would open up greater investment opportunities and strengthen the management efficiency of the nation’s airports.
“MAHB has successfully completed the expansion of the Sultan Azlan Shah Airport in Perak and is expanding the Sultan Ismail Petra Airport in Kota Bharu, Kelantan.
“RM2.3 billion has been invested in the development of airports in Penang, Kota Kinabalu, Tawau, and Miri, and is expected to be completed by 2028. In addition, Short Take-Off and Landing Ports (STOLports) in Marudi and Redang are also being upgraded and are slated for completion in 2027.”
Anwar added that the Inter-Terminal Transfer project between KLIA Terminal 1 and Terminal 2 will be implemented to enhance passenger connectivity and establish KLIA as a fully integrated international airport.
