SHAH ALAM, Feb 12 — The state government will leverage the Selangor International Business Summit (SIBS) to help local high-end enterprises step onto the global stage by participating in overseas exhibitions and thematic forums.
This initiative is part of efforts to boost the international visibility of Selangor’s “hidden champion” companies and support their expansion into foreign markets.
State executive councillor for investment, trade, and mobility Ng Sze Han said that this year, Selangor will continue to focus on developing two key sectors: aviation and electric vehicles (EV).
He pointed out that many in-flight components today are “Made in Selangor”, manufactured and installed by local companies producing high-quality aviation parts, with the industry’s value chain being extremely valuable.
“In 2025, Selangor hosted an airshow and promoted the Selangor Aviation Park (SAP), covering the full industry chain.
“This year, we will continue to accelerate development in this area, with the aim of positioning Selangor as a regional aviation hub,” Ng said during a recent Chinese New Year media interview.

He added that to help Selangor’s hidden champions explore broader growth opportunities, the state government will use the SIBS platform to encourage local high-end enterprises to expand internationally and demonstrate their technological capabilities.
“This year, we plan to move some of SIBS’ satellite events to Indonesia. In addition to promoting Selangor and Malaysia, we will also lead local companies with strong technical capabilities to participate in overseas exhibitions,” Ng said.
For EVs, one of the state’s key development priorities, Selangor will implement various measures to address development challenges and make it easier for the public to adopt EVs.
Among other things, the state government is promoting growth in both the vehicle and chip industries while simultaneously enhancing supporting infrastructure.
“Our target is clear: to install 1,000 charging points by 2025, increasing to 4,000 by 2030, covering urban, rural, and semi-urban areas,” he said, noting that Selangor has registered 1,276 charging points as of today, with some still pending registration.
The councillor said that Selangor also aims to become a key chip supply hub, given the enormous market potential of chips, which are essential components in both the EV and aviation industries.
