SHAH ALAM, Oct 4 — Selangor’s inaugural Halal Open Day today drew a crowd of over 800 visitors, said Selangor Islamic Religious Council (Mais) chairman Dato’ Salehuddin Saidin.
He said the event aimed to improve the community’s understanding of and confidence in halal certification.
“This event also proves religious authorities’ mindfulness and commitment in supporting all relevant parties.
“The Halal Open Day was held to celebrate 10 years since the establishment of the Selangor Islamic Religious Department’s (Jais) Halal Management Division, and 2025 is a meaningful year as it is the 60th year of the state’s halal certification journey,” he said.
Salehuddin was speaking at the officiation of the Halal Open Day, also attended by state executive councillor for Islam and innovation Dr Fahmi Ngah and Jais director Dato’ Mohd Shahzihan Ahmad.
From 8am to 5pm today, various segments were held including the Halal Awareness Seminar and a knowledge-sharing session by successful entrepreneurs.
The event featured more than 30 booths run by small and medium enterprises, with some agencies also opening exhibits to display and sell their halal products.
At the Halal Open Day, Salehuddin presented credentials to 60 halal management officers, while Fahmi handed over the Malaysian Halal Certificate to three companies.
