SHAH ALAM, April 3 — The authorities seized some 34 tonnes of pork carcasses and 97 boxes of frozen chicken without halal certification, worth an estimated RM1.5 million, during raids on three premises in Kampung Baru Subang recently.
Bukit Aman Internal Security and Public Order Department’s Wildlife Crime Bureau commander Senior Asst Comm Mohd Zaki Ashar said the operation on Wednesday (April 1), in collaboration with several agencies, also uncovered equipment and vehicles used in the activities.
“In addition to the frozen meat, we also seized three weighing scales and three one-tonne lorries. The total value of the seized items is estimated at RM1.9 million,” he said in a statement.
The police detained 32 individuals, including company owners and managers aged between 22 and 59, to assist in investigations.
“All suspects have been taken to the Sungai Buloh district police headquarters for further action,” Zaki said, adding that compounds were also issued for various offences.
He noted that the raids successfully dismantled a syndicate involved in the smuggling, distribution, and sale of frozen food in the Klang Valley.
