SHAH ALAM, Oct 3 — The Selangor government will give RM1 million to the Malaysian International Humanitarian Centre (MIHC) for humanitarian missions in Palestine’s Gaza and local disaster aid, Menteri Besar Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari said.
In a press conference today at the Sumud Nusantara Command Centre (SNCC), he said the funds will allow the MIHC and the Malaysian Consultative Council of Islamic Organisation (Mapim) to mobilise various initiatives including logistics support, facilities, and volunteers.
“The MIHC won’t just channel international aid, but also give aid after landslides, floods and various calamities in Malaysia. With this contribution, we hope their missions are more systematic and effective,” he said while recapping the two-year humanitarian crisis in Gaza due to the Zionist regime’s endless killing and destruction.
Amirudin, who is also Gombak MP, said this contribution is Selangor’s way of showing it is serious about cross-border humanitarianism.
He also said Selangor is the first state to launch a special fund to build a seven-storey apartment, mosque and water tower in Gaza, but the project has been postponed for safety.
“I was informed that two of our vehicles are still in Gaza. Our ambulance has been destroyed, but the four-wheel drive is still going strong,” he added.
The menteri besar also hailed Palestinians’ resilience amid sieges and attacks, which he said has greatly inspired Malaysians.
“With the support we have given this year, we believe that what they have achieved has not only opened the hearts and touched the souls of Malaysians, but the world,” he said.
Earlier, Amirudin visited the SNCC headquarters to express solidarity and support the organisation’s continuous efforts in the international humanitarian mission.
