SHAH ALAM, Oct 2 — The Selangor International Care Summit 2025 (SICS) is expected to strengthen the state’s position as a premier care tourism destination across Asia.
State executive councillor for women empowerment and social welfare Anfaal Saari said this potential can be realised if Selangor were to offer a comprehensive approach with world-class care facilities and services.
“Neighbouring countries like Indonesia, Thailand, the Philippines, and Cambodia are also facing care-related issues. If Selangor can provide a comprehensive alternative, the state has the capacity to become the region’s top choice.
“We already have several privately-run care centres. Through the organisation of SICS 2025, we want to strengthen this potential further and, at the same time, position Selangor as Asean’s care economy hub,” she said during the 'Bicara Semasa' programme produced by Media Selangor recently.
Anfaal added that Selangor intends to establish cooperation with Indonesia’s National Development Planning Ministry (Bappenas) to open up opportunities for industrial training for workers in the state’s care sector.
“If foreign countries are interested in sending their personnel here for training, we must provide best practices, including training modules and certification,” she said.
The inaugural SICS 2025 is scheduled to take place from next Thursday (October 9) to next Saturday (October 11) at the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre.
It will be held alongside the Selangor International Business Summit (SIBS), featuring a variety of programmes including forums, conferences, business matching, and engagement sessions.
