SHAH ALAM, Sept 28 — The mother of Tengku Permaisuri of Selangor Tengku Permaisuri Norashikin, Esah Tahar, who died early today, was laid to rest at the Shah Alam Royal Mausoleum in Seksyen 5 here at 2.45pm.
Esah’s remains were brought to the mausoleum at 1.42pm after showering and shrouding at the Sultan Salahuddin Abdul Aziz Shah Mosque. Last rites were performed at the same mosque by Grand Imam Muhammad Farhan Wijaya after Zohor prayers.
Sultan of Selangor Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah Alhaj also performed the funeral prayer before Esah was buried during a ceremony attended by Tengku Permaisuri Norashikin’s family.
Also present were Selangor Mufti Dato’ Anhar Opir, Selangor Islamic Religious Council (Mais) chairman Dato’ Salehuddin Saidin, Selangor Islamic Religious Council (Jais) director Dato’ Mohd Shahzihan Ahmad, and Selangor police chief Datuk Shazeli Kahar.
The royal couple sprinkled rose water over the coffin after the talkin reading, led by Farhan.
Esah, 82, died due to old age at a hospital in Damansara at 5.15am today.
Earlier, Menteri Besar Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari expressed his condolences to Their Royal Highnesses for their loss.
