KUALA LUMPUR, Sept 23 — RON95 consumers can check their eligibility for the BUDI Madani RON95 (BUDI95) subsidy from Thursday, Finance Minister II Datuk Seri Amir Hamzah Azizan said.
Checks can be done on the BUDI95 website, at BUDI95 customer service centres, or on the Setel or CaltexGO apps, he said, and users need only enter their identity card (IC) number on the website to know their eligible quota.
“The portal will be a permanent system. From September 30, all subsidy use will be displayed daily, including the remaining eligibility. The eligibility is 300 litres a month,” he said at a media conference here today, adding that users need not register as their eligibility will be determined automatically based on their IC number.
Users need only enter their MyKad into the reader at the pump or counter of the petrol station to confirm their eligibility, he added.
“Payment can be made by cash, debit or credit card or e-wallet and via app. After filling up, a receipt showing the transaction value at the price of the pump, the value of subsidy borne by the government, and total paid by the user at RM1.99,” he said, adding the quota would remain at 300 litres a month and any use over the quota would be at current market price.
“Almost all petrol stations have been equipped with readers to confirm eligibility, while several fuel companies are offering the facility on their apps, such as Setel and Touch ’n Go.
“Through this effort, the government hopes to simplify the process without inconveniencing the public to ensure that subsidies reach those who are eligible and to reduce leakages and boost savings for the government,” Amir Hamzah added.
