KUALA LUMPUR, Sept 19 — The Raja Muda of Selangor Tengku Amir Shah graced the memorandum of understanding (MOU) exchange ceremony between the Selangor Youth Community (SAY) and the Malaysia External Trade Development Corporation (Matrade) today.
It marked the start of a strategic collaboration between SAY and Matrade, aimed at empowering youth entrepreneurs in Selangor through the Selangor Export Entrepreneurs League (SAY Aspire) programme.
The document exchange was carried out by Matrade chief executive officer Datuk Seri Mohd Mustafa Abdul Aziz and SAY chief executive officer Aiman Syafiq Nazri, witnessed by His Highness as SAY's Royal Patron.
Aiman said SAY Aspire would benefit from various forms of support, including guidance, market exposure, access to Matrade's digital library and international trade networks, as well as expertise sharing and long-term strategic cooperation between SAY and Matrade.
“With Matrade's support, they can connect (entrepreneurs) with Matrade officers overseas, and these officers can then link them with vendors or suppliers who may be interested in their products or goods.
“… through this cooperation, it will provide more access for our entrepreneurs to the facilities and resources available at Matrade,” he told the press after the MOU exchange ceremony.
Aiman added that one of the MOU's main agendas is to ensure that SAY Aspire participants will be better prepared to penetrate international markets and realise their business potential.
Also present were state executive councillor for youth, sports, and entrepreneurship Mohd Najwan Halimi, along with representatives of the Selangor state government, Matrade board members, senior management of both organisations, and SAY Aspire participants.
Tengku Amir also visited booths at the Malaysia International Halal Showcase (Mihas) 2025, including those of SAY entrepreneurs, where he interacted with entrepreneurs and visitors.
Earlier, Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim officiated MIHAS 2025, organised by Matrade at the Malaysia International Trade and Exhibition Centre (MITEC), Kuala Lumpur, from Wednesday (September 17) to Sunday (September 20).
Held under the theme “Pinnacle of Halal Excellence,” the event features 2,400 booths with exhibitors and buyers from 80 countries, and is expected to attract 45,000 visitors. Mihas 2025 is projected to achieve sales of RM4.5 billion.
