Selangor allocates RM4.4m to repair four Ampang apartments

AMPANG JAYA, Sept 14 — The state government continues to demonstrate its commitment to resolving strata housing issues with a RM4,409,170 allocation this year for repair works on four apartments in the Ampang Parliamentary constituency.

State executive councillor for housing and culture Datuk Borhan Aman Shah said the allocation covers repairs to lifts, water tanks, railings, and other infrastructure facilities to ensure residents can live in more comfortable and safer conditions.

“Over RM4 million is no small amount. We want to ensure that all residents of flats, especially older projects with unresolved strata issues, continue to be cared for.

"Each year we will continue to allocate funds for this purpose,” he said during the Selangor Strata Community Rewang Programme organised by the Ampang Jaya Municipal Council at Dewan MPAJ Lembah Jaya yesterday.

Borhan stressed that Selangor prioritises strata ownership issues as many older projects in Ampang, Gombak, and several other areas still lack titles.

The effort is also strengthened through cooperation with the Federal government via the Housing and Local Government Ministry (KPKT) and the Selangor Housing and Property Board (LPHS).

“The Federal government continuously monitors, while the state government consistently provides support and backing so that we do not miss out on the assistance we are entitled to,” he said.

At the same event, Lembah Jaya State assemblyman Syed Ahmad Abdul Rahman Alhadad emphasised the state government’s efforts to develop more affordable housing equipped with modern facilities, in line with the growing needs of urban communities.

“To date, more than 76,000 units of affordable housing have been completed. By 2028, we are targeting 200,000 units. This is in line with the Federal government’s aspiration to provide one million affordable homes nationwide,” he said.

In addition to housing provision, various initiatives under the Iltizam Selangor Penyayang are also being offered, including the Smart Rental Scheme, the Ceria Scheme, as well as welfare, education, and health support programmes to ease urban residents' burdens.

Syed Ahmad also stressed that community spirit through Joint Management Bodies (JMB) and Management Corporations (MC) is crucial in ensuring residential areas are well-maintained, vibrant and safe.

“When the community unites, it is also easier for the government to channel aid. This is the true measure of success,” he said.
