KUALA LUMPUR, Sept 13 — In a first, Tourism Selangor today joined this year’s Keretapi Sarong, an event synonymous with Malaysia Day.
Nearly 1,000 participants were gathered at the Sri Damansara Sentral MRT station from 7am before to travel to the secret main location.
Also present were state executive councillor for local government and tourism Dato’ Ng Suee Lim and Tourism Selangor CEO Chua Yee Ling.

Attendees were pleasantly surprised with a special performance by popular singer Aizat Amdan, who is also Selangor tourism ambassador, and a drum circle by Globdcircle Entertainment.
Tourism Selangor also brought dancers from Perbadanan Adat Melayu dan Warisan Negeri Selangor (PADAT) and Persatuan Peranakan Baba Nyonya Kuala Lumpur dan Selangor for a special stage.
From 9am, participants took the MRT to the main location — Tun Razak Exchange. It was earlier reported that 18,000 participants were expected to join the ninth edition of Keretapi Sarong, themed “Serumpun (Of One Family”.

The Keretapi Sarong event was launched by LOCCO Malaysia in 2012 and has become an annual Malaysia Day festivity.
The event features sarong as its theme to reflect Malaysians’ shared use of the heritage art across various races and religions.
RapidKL, as the main sponsor of the event, said the Keretapi Sarong convoy would stretch across 10 of its stations.
