SHAH ALAM, Aug 31 — The state government’s concern for the welfare of former security forces personnel continues to be shown in the form of an RM50,000 to police retirees and Malaysian Armed Forces (MAF) veterans.
Selangor Ex-Police Association chairman Rosli Hashim said this is the third year the welfare aid has been disbursed, proving the state leadership’s sustained commitment to veterans’ plight.

“Menteri Besar Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari and the Selangor government pay much attention to the plight of retired policemen. Most of us are now in the B40 group, so this contribution really helps.
“We hope this assistance can be continued for the welfare of police retirees in Selangor as this contribution would be used for important needs like wheelchairs and hospital beds for ailing retirees,” he said.
Rosli was met during Selangor’s Merdeka celebration at Dataran Kemerdekaan here last night.

Selangor MAF Veterans’ Association president Mohd Din Husnin also expressed appreciation for the state’s help given in conjunction with Merdeka.
“We are grateful for the assistance we received from the state government. It has helped lighten much of our financial burdens and facilitated the management of our association.
“MAF veterans are part of a pillar of national security, and these contributions aren’t just for them but also for their widows and children,” he said.

Earlier, Amirudin led around 30,000 attendees in seven cheers of “Merdeka!”.
Visitors were also treated to a performance gimmick by the Royal Malaysia Police, Fire and Rescue Department, and a parade involving over 80 contingents from various agencies, statutory bodies, non-governmental organisations, and schools in the state.
