Applications for RM1,000 MamaKerja aid open in August

HULU LANGAT, July 4 — The MamaKerja initiative, which aims to lighten childcare cost burdens for those with kids aged six and below, will open applications in August, said state executive councillor for women empowerment and welfare Anfaal Saari.

She said the RM1,000 aid, offered under Phase 2 of the Selangor Resilience Enhancement Package (SREP), can be requested on the NINE app.

“We will launch in August the MamaKerja initiative where children aged under six of working mothers are ones being sent to registered taska, registered tadika, and nannies.

“This initiative, we want to get data on where these nannies are, because under the (law), at-home nannies caring for four or fewer children aren’t subject to any (law),” she added.

When met at the Hulu Langat leg of the Selangor Resilient Women roadshow, Anfaal said the aid would benefit 10,000 working mothers.

Previously, Menteri Besar Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari announced a RM5 million allocation under SREP for MamaKerja, which he said would expand the benefit to a total of 10,000 working mothers in Selangor.

MamaKerja is among initiatives the Pakatan Harapan-Barisan Nasional government promised in August 2023 to deliver within 100 days of its administration.

The one-off RM1,000 incentive is offered to working women with a household income not exceeding RM8,000 and three children aged under 12.
