SHAH ALAM, Aug 29 — The state stands as a prime example of fostering unity in Malaysia, with its people living together in diversity while finding common ground.
Menteri Besar Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari said that Selangor brings together people from various walks of life, districts, and backgrounds, while embracing an open concept that emphasises quality.'
“That is justice — placing something in its rightful place. If someone has quality, we provide them with opportunities regardless of their background. That is Selangor’s recipe for success.
“This unity will shape 100 years of a strong and healthy Selangor. Selangor must remain an open state, one that celebrates everyone. It will reject narrow-minded, racist, and divisive thinking,” he said.
Amirudin was delivering his speech during the Menteri Besar's National Day Lecture at the Shah Alam City Council Convention Centre today, which was also attended by state administrative leaders.
The Menteri Besar added that unity is not merely political rhetoric or words spoken only in times of crisis, but a fundamental foundation that the people must safeguard.
Through the recitation of the Rukun Negara, which is now reintroduced at various events, he said it serves as a reminder for Malaysians to remain united in supporting the nation’s aspirations in building a progressive society.
“The Rukun Negara, as I mentioned earlier, must continue to serve as an axis, not just its principles, for those very principles uphold all its objectives.
“Instead, it is the objectives that we must understand, study, and appreciate in order to face future challenges,” Amirudin said.
