SHAH ALAM, Aug 25 — Projek Lintasan Kota Holdings Sdn Bhd (Prolintas) is implementing additional safety measures on the Damansara-Shah Alam Highway (DASH), following the death of a 19-year-old motorcyclist on Saturday.
Prolintas said that it will install more fencing, alongside ongoing measures such as enhancing public awareness campaigns and putting up extra signs at strategic locations, to improve safety for highway users.
It also stressed that the elevated curve sections of the highway were built in compliance with specifications approved by the authorities and certified engineers.
"We extend our condolences to the victim's family and will implement additional safety measures,” it said in a statement.
"While the design of the highway meets all requirements, we have taken proactive steps such as installing extra warning signs at strategic locations, enhancing public awareness efforts, and planning the installation of additional fencing to further improve safety.”
On August 23, a private college student died after falling 21m from the DASH flyover in Shah Alam.
The accident occurred at the 1/B 0.5 exit ramp of the DASH near Persiaran Mokhtar Dahari, when the victim is believed to have lost control of his motorcycle on a bend before hitting a divider and plunging off the highway.
Police urged witnesses to contact the investigating officer, Inspector Nur Iqmal Maisarah Azman, at 017-2836851 to assist with the probe.
This is the third fatal accident reported on the DASH this year. In February, a woman was killed after losing control of her motorcycle on a bend and hitting a car, while in July, a 23-year-old man died after his motorcycle skidded and plunged off the highway.
