KUALA LUMPUR, Aug 10 — Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim said the Madani Government remains committed to protecting the voice, rights, and opportunities of indigenous people.
He said this commitment ensures indigenous peoples remain pillars of culture, guardians of natural treasures, and partners in national progress.
“Today’s International Day of the World’s Indigenous Peoples reminds us that the true strength of a country, especially Malaysia, lies in the diversity and heritage we preserve together,” Anwar said in a Facebook post.
The Indigenous Peoples Day 2025 carries the theme “Pertahankan Bumi, Pulihkan Tanah, Hijauan Semula Masa Depan — Melalui Kearifan Orang Asal (Protect the Earth, Restore the Land, Regreen the Future — Through Indigenous Wisdom)”.
The annual celebration honours the identity, culture, contributions, and rights of indigenous peoples, who are an integral part of Malaysia’s rich racial and cultural diversity.
