SHAH ALAM, July 21 — The Ambulans Kita Selangor initiative, a free ambulance service, will be implemented soon to more effectively support the state’s healthcare system.

State executive councillor for public health and environment Jamaliah Jamaluddin said the programme will provide free non-emergency ambulance services to those in need, especially for medical appointments, follow-up treatments, and periodic treatment sessions at hospitals and certified treatment centres.

“Through this programme, the state government intends to offer more efficient and systematic ambulance services that are easily accessible,” she said during a Selangor St John Ambulance of Malaysia (SJAM) fundraiser here last night, according to a statement issued by her office today.

Jamaliah said the appointment of SJAM as a strategic partner for the initiative presents significant impact not only in expanding service coverage, but also in strengthening the state’s healthcare system.

“This also demonstrates the state government’s continued commitment to strengthening the public healthcare sector, in collaboration with experienced and trusted strategic partners.”

When tabling the 2025 Selangor State Budget on November 15 last year, Menteri Besar Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari had announced plans for Ambulans Kita Selangor, with a total allocation of RM1 million.

He said the programme would be first launched in four districts, with plans to expand to others based on demand.

At last night’s event, Jamaliah expressed her appreciation to Selangor SJAM for its continued contributions in emergency services, first aid education, and other welfare initiatives, including the establishment of the Ophthalmic Care Unit, which focuses on eye health for vulnerable groups.

Last night’s fundraiser sought to support various community initiatives and the construction of new modern headquarters for Selangor SJAM, which will serve as a more efficient hub for operations, training, and volunteer management.

She expressed confidence that the funds raised during the event would be used prudently to strengthen the organisation’s operations and realise its aspiration of owning a new headquarters.

“Jamaliah also extended her appreciation to all contributors and volunteers involved in making the event a success,” the statement from her office read.
