SHAH ALAM, May 8 — Some 31 welfare homes housing 12,380 registered orphans under the Darul Ehsan Islamic Foundation (Yide) have received various forms of assistance to safeguard their future.

It said the support provided includes management aid, character and academic development programmes for orphans, and a strong community support network.

“Yide encourages more orphan welfare homes in Selangor to register and collaborate with us, as it will open up access to a variety of benefits.

“These include management assistance, personal development programmes, and a robust support network to ensure the wellbeing of orphans in the state,” it said in a Facebook post.

The state government agency added that it also conducts outreach visits to orphanages throughout Selangor to assess the potential and eligibility of the premises for official registration under Yide’s supervision.

“Among the main criteria evaluated are a valid registration status with the Social Welfare Department (JKM) and compliance with established management guidelines to ensure the children grow up in a healthy, safe, and nurturing environment.

“The public is also urged to contribute, whether through financial donations, daily essentials, or volunteer support, to ensure the continuity of welfare, education, and daily care programmes for orphans,” it said.

Meanwhile, the Yide Orphanage Complex construction in Pulau Indah, Klang, is proceeding on schedule and has reached 67 per cent completion as of April 30.

An additional RM5.7 million in funding is still required to complete the complex, which is expected to be finished by the end of January next year.

“Yide calls on the public, agencies, corporate companies, communities, organisations, and mosque congregations to support and realise this noble initiative so that the complex can be completed as soon as possible,” it said.

Donations can be made at https://infaqpay.my/go/yide?referrer=fb003 (monthly contribution) and at https://infaqpay.my/plus/yide-sumbangan?referrer=fb003 (one-off contribution).

These donations are eligible for tax deductions under Subsection 44(6) of the Income Tax Act 1967.

The construction of the complex, estimated at around RM17 million, will accommodate approximately 200 orphans and include complete and conducive facilities such as dormitories, a surau, a multipurpose hall, a commercial centre, and sports courts.
