MB: Selangor Plan's formulation driven by current realities, challenges ahead

TANJONG MALIM, April 19 — Current realities and the surrounding environment are key considerations for the state administration in formulating development plans, including the Selangor Plan, to achieve greater success.

Menteri Besar Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari said these elements must be understood as they help make informed decisions and take the right course of action to address various issues.

Such emphasis also enables the leadership to identify strengths and weaknesses, thereby positioning the state to remain ahead.

“We sometimes get this wrong — not understanding the current situation. We do not always grasp the root of a problem. We only see the symptoms and their impact.

“We end up managing the symptoms without resolving the root causes. By understanding the real issues, we can take action and achieve the right outcomes.

“This is exactly what we are working on. We are looking at the foundation of current realities and data. From there, we move forward.

"We know that 60 per cent of the state’s economy is based on the services sector, 30 per cent on manufacturing, and the remainder on other sectors,” he said.

Amirudin was speaking at the Jerayawara Siswa #KitaSelangor programme at Sultan Idris Education University (UPSI) last night, in conjunction with the Hari Raya Aidilfitri 2025 celebration.

The Menteri Besar added that the state government cannot rely solely on past successes, as doing so could lead to failure and reduce the chances of achieving future progress.

“This is what Selangor is trying to build, as we are now aware of several challenges and the strengths we possess,” he said.
