SELAYANG, Feb 14 — The state government has allocated nearly RM7 million for a new 6.8km pipe in Taman Selayang Baru.
State executive councillor for women empowerment and welfare Anfaal Saari said this is to address low water pressure in the area since last year.
“I have received complaints about low water pressure in Selayang Baru. Within the next two months, we will identify a new water source as a short-term solution.
“The main issue is that the pipe is too old, and the high topography prevents proper water flow, especially during peak hours,” Anfaal, who is also Taman Templer assemblyman, told reporters at Taman Selayang Baru here today.
Also present were Selayang Municipal Council Zone 10 councillor Ahmad Zahiri Zahid Sofian and Pengurusan Air Selangor Sdn Bhd distribution and network operations (Gombak) assistant vice-president Zahlan Sulaiman.
Zahlan said his team will redirect water from Bandar Baru Selayang to Taman Selayang Baru to improve water pressure as a short-term solution.
He added that a proposal to replace the pipe has been submitted to the headquarters and is expected to be completed by next year.
“This low water pressure issue affects around 300 homes, but once the pipe replacement is completed, all 800 homes in the area will benefit from it,” he said.
