Selangor Land and Mines Office upholds zero tolerance for misconduct

By Suhaila Shahrul Annuar

SHAH ALAM, Jan 21 — The Selangor Land and Mines Office (PTGS) today said it maintains a zero-tolerance policy for misconduct or integrity violations concerning its staff.

This is after the police initiated investigations into alleged illegal land transfers involving PTGS’ Klang chapter.

PTGS director Dato’ Yusri Zakariah emphasised the agency’s commitment to raising awareness among land administration staff across the state, particularly on issues of integrity and corruption.

“If (any misconduct) is reported, we will immediately remove the member or officer involved from land administration duties. They will be reassigned while an investigation is conducted.

“If misconduct is confirmed, disciplinary action will be taken within the respective departments.

“We will then make the necessary corrections. If there are changes to data, such as land ownership details, we will update them accordingly,” he said during the launch of PTGS’s low loader here today.

Commenting on the police investigation into the illegal land transfers, Yusri said the seven staff arrested were from the Klang Land and District Office.

“One thing I want to correct is that the case occurred at the Klang Land and District Office, not the PTGS.

“They have been reassigned to other departments (unrelated to land matters) while awaiting a full investigation by Bukit Aman,” he said, adding that several PTGS staff were called to provide statements.

He explained that an internal probe found that irresponsible parties took advantage of their positions during the transition to the new e-Tanah system.

“This investigation has been ongoing for a while as we are in the process of transitioning from the old system to the e-Tanah system. We conducted an internal probe and called relevant departments for forensic analysis,” he said.

On a separate matter, Yusri said the purchase of the low loader by PTGS will enhance the efficiency of enforcement operations in the state.

“This machinery will improve the efficiency of our personnel, allowing them to conduct operations more swiftly and frequently. Previously, we relied on borrowing from other agencies, local councils, or renting from external operators.

“Lorries or bulldozers seized during enforcement operations must be transported to the PTGS seizure store in Section 7, Shah Alam. With the availability of this new machine, logistics arrangements will be smoother,” he said.
