KOTA BHARU, Jan 3 — Over 100 tonnes of flood debris were collected by the Selangor Ihsan Madani Squad during its cleanup operation in Kelantan recently, said Menteri Besar Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari.
He said the post-flood relief operation focused on, among others, cleaning up public infrastructure and homes affected by the disaster.
“In addition to the RM500,000 aid contribution, we also deployed 136 personnel, including those from local authorities, the Selangor State Sports Council, and volunteers.
“Over 100 tonnes of waste were collected, with the assistance drawing from Selangor’s experience in 2021.
“It is crucial to support the community to ensure that their mental recovery remains uninterrupted in the aftermath of the floods,” he said during a flood aid cheque presentation ceremony to the Kelantan government yesterday.
The aid was handed over to Kelantan Menteri Besar Datuk Mohd Nassuruddin Daud at his official residence, here.
Amirudin had previously announced the state government’s decision to mobilise the Ihsan Madani Squad, consisting of local council personnel and volunteers, to Kelantan for post-flood operations.
He said the team, equipped with 45 vehicles, including tankers and roll-on roll-off trucks, carried out cleaning work over three days. The squad also included members from the state’s waste collection company, KDEB Waste Management Sdn Bhd.
