SHAH ALAM, Dec 30 — Menteri Besar Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari has urged Muslims to integrate selawat (praises to Prophet Muhammad) and zikir (remembrance of Allah) into their daily routines, emphasising their importance as a guide in life.

“As leaders entrusted with the responsibility (of governing the state and nation), while we pursue worldly success, let our hearts be anchored in the remembrance of Allah through zikir and praises to the Prophet through selawat.

“In our journey toward success and prosperity, it is crucial to uphold Allah and Prophet Muhammad as our guides and ultimate objectives,” he said during the Darul Ehsan Berselawat Festival at Setia City Park Oval Lawn, Setia Alam, here last night.

The three-day festival, which began on Friday, drew significant public participation.

Due to its increasing popularity, Amirudin has expressed plans to expand similar programmes in the future.

“Alhamdulillah, selawat and zikir have become cultural norms among the people of Selangor.

“Moving forward, this initiative will be further expanded, and may it bring continued success and blessings to us, our families, and the state of Selangor.”

The Selangor government regularly organises Darul Ehsan Berselawat events, particularly during New Year’s Eve and National Day celebrations, attracting thousands of participants.

This year alone, several such programmes were held, including during the Madani Rakyat Central Zone event at the Kuala Selangor Sports Complex on February 23; at the conclusion of the Selangor Turath Islami Festival on June 2 at the Shah Alam Stadium Carnival Ground; and on National Day on August 31 at Dataran Kemerdekaan Shah Alam.
