Anwar urges Malaysians to centre Islamic values

SHAH ALAM, June 2 — Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim urged the people to make Malaysia a Madani nation centred on Islamic values.

Anwar said the country’s development must be driven not only by new discoveries, but also rooted in Islamic morality.

The Prime Minister said this at the Darul Ehsan Berselawat Programme during Festival Turath Islami Selangor at the Shah Alam Stadium here tonight.

Also in attendance at the event, which saw over 50,000 visitors, was Menteri Besar Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari and ex-Egypt mufti general Prof Ali Jum’ah.

Anwar urged the people to practise the spirit of Islam wherever and whenever.

He also thanked Amirudin and the Selangor government for organising the event.
