SHAH ALAM, Aug 16 — Selangor wushu athlete Felicity Wong has contributed a silver medal to the state in the women's 52kg Sanda category of the 21st Malaysia Games (Sukma) at the Sarawak Wushu Stadium in Petra Jaya, Kuching, today.
Similarly, her compatriot Batrisyia Izzati also won silver in the women's 48kg Sanda category.
As of 10pm, Selangor has earned three gold and five silver medals.
Earlier on, lawn bowls athlete Nur Najla Damia secured a silver medal in the women’s singles event at the match held at the Sarawak Lawn Bowls Arena in Petra Jaya today.
The state lawn bowls team won the gold medal in the women’s fours event by defeating Pahang in the final earlier.
The state advanced to the semi-finals of the men’s sepak takraw event at the Malaysia Games (Sukma) by defeating Perak 2-0.
Also advancing were Penang, Melaka, and Terengganu, each recording 2-0 victories against their respective opponents at the Muhibbah Stadium, Bintulu, this morning.
As of 1pm, Selangor also progressed to the final of the lawn bowls event after defeating Sabah 19-9 in the women’s fours. Nur Najla Damia Mustakim also advanced to the final, winning 21-16 in the singles event.
In the men’s triples event, it was defeated 8-20 by the Federal Territory in the semi-finals.
For the women’s team hockey event, Selangor defeated Sabah 1-0 in a Group B match. The men’s team faced Terengganu in the preliminary round of Group D at 4.30pm at the Sarawak State Hockey Stadium, Padungan, where they lost 0-2.
Three Selangor squash singles players recorded victories in the preliminary round. Erwin Kross Christopher and Harold Rynesh Aloysius excelled in the men’s event, while B. Leshantini defeated the Melaka representatives 3-0.
11am: Selangor won 1-0 against Sabah in the preliminary round of the women’s hockey event at the Petrajaya Hockey Stadium.
9am: Selangor is targeting two gold medals in the individual wushu and team lawn bowls events on the third day of Sukma today.
