SHAH ALAM, June 18 — State waste management company KDEB Waste Management Sdn Bhd (KDEBWM) collected approximately 5,340.10 tonnes of waste on the first day of the Hari Raya Aidiladha celebration yesterday.
Its managing director Datuk Ramli Mohd Tahir said the amount includes 4,797.13 tonnes of domestic waste and 542.97 tonnes of public cleaning waste.
“4,397 workers were on duty in 384 areas. KDEBWM consistently carries out its responsibility of daily waste collection, including yesterday on Aidiladha,” he said in a statement today.
Ramli added that KDEBWM provided 939 lorries for waste generation operations, comprising 324 Roll-On-Roll-Off (RoRo) cleaning lorries, 57 RoRo domestic lorries, and 558 compactor lorries.
“The total collection this year has decreased compared to last year. One of the factors contributing to this reduction is that many shops have yet to reopen,” he said.
