SHAH ALAM, July 10 — Selangor’s 12 local councils have on average consistently achieved over 90 per cent of their waste collection services targets annually.
State executive councillor for local government Dato’ Ng Suee Lim said this is based on regular performance monitoring by KDEB Waste Management Sdn Bhd (KDEMWM) and local councils.
“The compliance rate with the scheduled domestic waste collection under the service level agreement (SLA) is high, averaging over 90 per cent each year.
“For the first quarter of 2025, KDEB Waste Management recorded an average compliance rate of 87 per cent with the SLA,” he told the Selangor State Legislative Assembly here today, in response to a question from Sungai Pelek assemblyman Lwi Kian Keong.
An SLA is a documented deal between a service provider and a customer that outlines specific services to be provided, expected service standards, and how service performance is measured.
According to Ng, the quality standards that KDEBWM must meet under its SLA cover various aspects like the frequency of domestic and bulk waste collection, complaint response time, cleanliness standards at collection sites, and adherence to zoned collection schedules.
Other standards include logistics management and vehicle maintenance, compliance with personal protective equipment and uniform safety requirements, and proper documentation, including monthly report slips.
“The state government, through KDEB Waste Management, remains committed to ensuring solid waste collection across local authorities is carried out efficiently, according to schedule, and meets the prescribed service standards,” Ng said.
