SHAH ALAM, June 5 — Water supply disruption affecting seven areas in the Klang Valley will be fully restored by Friday noon, said Pengurusan Air Selangor Sdn Bhd.
The state water operator said the disruption caused by scheduled maintenance and replacement works at the Sungai Selangor Phase 1 (SSP1) water treatment plant (WTP), which began at 9am, is expected to be completed by 7pm today.
Water supply is expected to be restored in stages to affected areas from 3am tomorrow after the works are completed and the main water supply distribution system has been stabilised.
“The percentage of water supply recovery in the affected areas is expected to reach approximately 20 per cent at 3pm on June 6 (Thursday) followed by 90 per cent at 3am on June 7 (Friday).
“The full recovery time is expected to be at 12pm, June 7,” it said in a statement posted on social media today.
Previously, on May 13, Air Selangor had issued a statement informing the public of a scheduled water disruption affecting areas in Petaling, Klang, Shah Alam, Gombak, Kuala Lumpur, Hulu Selangor and Kuala Selangor.
To mitigate the impact, the state agency said it will be deploying water tankers to critical premises such as hospitals, clinics, dialysis centres and funeral service centres.
Alternative water supply assistance will also be provided at 13 local service centres.
It added that commercial customers can purchase water supply at any of Air Selangor’s customer service counters across all regions and utilise their respective water tankers at designated local water filling stations located at Braemar Estate (Hulu Langat region), Taman Gemilang Dengkil and Pekan Salak (Sepang region), and Taman Banting Baru (Kuala Langat region).
Consumers can stay updated on the scheduled water supply disruption through Air Selangor’s official communication channels, including its website.
