GOMBAK, May 15 — Menteri Besar Selangor (Incorporated), or MBI, has donated RM27,000 to victims of the fire that occurred in March in Gombak.
MBI corporate social responsibility head Ahmad Azri Zainal Nor said the assistance was provided to nine families whose homes were either razed or damaged.
Seven of the victims were from Kampung Simpang Tiga, while the two others were from Kampung Harmonis Kuang and Kampung Taman Wilayah Selayang, respectively.
“This contribution is for the affected families within the Gombak parliamentary seat, particularly in the Gombak Setia state constituency.
“Although this donation cannot cover the entire loss, MBI hopes it will help them to continue their lives and meet their needs,” he said today.
Earlier, Gombak Setia state constituency coordinator Rahim Kasdi presented the aid to the affected families at its service centre.
One of the recipients, Mohd NurFitri Abdul Aziz, 42, said the RM3,000 cash assistance provided by MBI would help cover his children’s school expenses after suffering significant losses due to the disaster.
“The fire caused by a short circuit resulted in damages amounting to RM4,000. I appreciate MBI’s assistance in easing our burden,” he said.
Another recipient, Bestleaindo Gepili, 40, similarly expressed his gratitude for the assistance provided by the state subsidiary.
“This aid eases my burden since the fire incident at my house in Kampung Sungai Tiga resulted in a total loss, with estimated damages of around RM30,000,” he said.
Senior citizen Mustafa Hussain Mohamed Ahmad, 58, described the assistance as a blessing after his home was destroyed by fire.
“The incident caused the upper part of my house to burn down. My family wasn’t able to save important documents, so I am very grateful for this assistance,” he said.
