HULU SELANGOR, Jan 13 — Menteri Besar Selangor (Incorporated), or MBI, has allocated RM1 million to help victims of disasters, especially floods.

MBI Foundation chief Ahmad Azri Zainal Nor said the fund includes cash, food baskets, and daily necessities, including cleaning products.

“This assistance includes aid distributed at temporary relief centres to victims.

“MBI is always working with the Social Welfare Department to cross-check (information) so all victims receive aid,” he said after presenting cash aid to 47 flood victims in Hulu Bernam here today.

Last year, the state government subsidiary set aside the same amount for victims of disasters including landslides and fires.

In December, the MBI Foundation channelled aid such as food baskets to Kelantan flood victims under the Ihsan Madani Squad.

Earlier, Azri presented about RM25,000 to Kampung Selisek and Kampung Serigala residents, who were affected by floods in August last year.

He said the aid encompassed RM500 in cash aid to 47 families, as well as food baskets and essential items to around 200 victims.

“In the early-August incident, we handed over food baskets and RM100 in cash to victims. Today, we gave each family the remaining RM400 to lighten their burden.

“We needed time to complete the documentation process before handing over the assistance. We hope this aid helps them after they faced floods that caused them losses,” he said.

He presented the victims with aid during a ceremony at the Kampung Sekolah multipurpose hall here today.

On August 5 last year, Hulu Selangor coordinator N. Sathia Prakash said 143 residents from 50 families were evacuated to a relief centre after 0.3m of water inundated their homes.

Those affected were from Kampung Serigala, Kampung Sungai Nilam, Kampung Sekolah, Kampung Masjid, and Kampung Paya Lebar.
