SHAH ALAM, March 27 — The Shah Alam City Council (MBSA) has collected 3,780.3 kilogrammes of leftovers from Ramadan bazaars within a week under the MySave Food@Bazar Ramadan programme.

Its mayor Cheremi Tarman said traders have responded positively to the initiative to gather leftovers from bazaars, preventing the wastage of hundreds of kilogrammes of food.

“We welcome bazaar traders to continue supporting the programme as we can also help the underprivileged.

“The distribution of food to those in need is safe as it is delivered within two hours,” he said after the MBSA’s Prihatin donation drive in conjunction with Hari Raya Aidilfitri 2024 at Dewan MBSA Kiambang in Section 7, here yesterday.

The MySave Food@Ramadan Bazaar programme was initiated by MBSA four years ago to collect unsold excess food at Ramadan bazaars and distribute it to the needy.

This year, the programme is held from Monday to Friday, involving three Ramadan bazaars, namely at the Shah Alam Stadium in Section 13, Section 17, and Section 19.
