SHAH ALAM, March 20 — The Shah Alam City Council (MBSA) has taken the initiative to collect surplus food from the Ramadan bazaars in areas under its jurisdiction for distribution to local residents.
It has managed to collect approximately 1,425.9 kg of food by the third day of the MBSA MySave Food @ Bazar Ramadan programme.
"Bazaar traders can send their unsold food, which is still fresh and edible, to the MBSA MySave Food tent, where our volunteers are prepared to assist them.
"The food will be distributed to residents in need after breaking fast," MBSA said in a Facebook post yesterday.
MySave Food @ Bazar Ramadan is located at the Ramadan bazaars in Stadium Shah Alam Section 13, as well as Section 17 and Section 19.
The council has also advised traders to properly measure and plan the amount of food they are going to sell, so as to avoid food wastage.
