KLANG, June 3 — The Sabak Bernam Development Area (Sabda) project, under the First Selangor Plan (RS-1), will be launched on June 9, said Menteri Besar Dato' Seri Amirudin Shari.

He expressed confidence in Sabda's ability to increase the state's Gross Domestic Product output from 2025 to 2026 by as much as 30 per cent.

"InsyaAllah, we will launch Sabda on Friday (June 9), which we believe can further boost both Sabak Bernam's economy, but also all of Selangor's.

"With initiatives like Sabda and the Integrated Development Region in South Selangor (Idriss), I am certain the overall contribution to the national GDP can be increased by at least one to two per cent.

"Thus, we firmly believe the 30 per cent target is achievable. If not, we will nonetheless strive to do our best as this is one of the opportunities to generate economic growth," Amirudin said.

The Menteri Besar was speaking during the Sentosa state constituency's charity dinner in Premiere Hotel yesterday evening.

Sabda involves the development of high-value crops across a 1,317-hectare area, which is expected to yield RM248 million in annual income.

Its main projects include the development of the Sekinchan fish landing complex, the construction of rest and recreation (R&R) facilities, and a soft drink business centre.
