SHAH ALAM, Dec 16 — Nearly all of Selangor will experience heavy rains, strong winds and thunderstorms until 7pm today, said the Malaysian Meteorological Department (MetMalaysia).
In a statement issued at 3.50pm, the agency said Selangor’s districts which will see strong weather include Sabak Bernam, Kuala Selangor, Hulu Selangor, Gombak, Petaling, Sepang and Hulu Langat.
“Other states and territories which will be similarly affected include Kuala Lumpur, Putrajaya, Perak (Kerian, Larut, Matang and Selama, Manjung, Kinta, Kampar and Batang Padang), Kelantan (Gua Musang), Pahang (Cameron Highlands, Lipis, Jerantut, Bentong, Temerloh, Maran, Kuantan, Bera, Pekan and Rompin).
“Negeri Sembilan (Jelebu, Seremban and Jempol), Johor (Segamat, Kluang and Mersing), Sarawak (Miri and Marudi) as well as Sabah (Kuala Penyu, Beaufort and Papar) will also see inclement weather during this time,” it said.
MetMalaysia issues warnings whenever signs indicate a thunderstorm with a rain intensity exceeding 20 mm that is close to or is expected to occur for more than an hour.
A thunderstorm warning is a short-term warning valid for a period not exceeding six hours for a single release.
