Inclement weather to hit half of Selangor until 6pm — MetMalaysia

SHAH ALAM, Dec 1 — Gombak, Petaling, Kuala Langat, Hulu Langat and Sepang are expected to be hit with thunderstorms, heavy rains and strong winds until 6pm today, says the Malaysian Meteorological Department (MetMalaysia).

In a warning issued at 2.20pm on Facebook, the agency said that inclement weather is also anticipated throughout Kuala Lumpur, Putrajaya, Negeri Sembilan, Melaka and Johor.

“Meanwhile, stormy weather is also expected in Perak (Kerian, Larut, Matang and Selama, Kuala Kangsar, Kinta, Perak Tengah, Kampar and Batang Padang), and Pahang (Cameron Highlands, Bentong, Temerloh, Bera and Rompin).

“Similar weather conditions are forecasted for Sarawak: Sarikei, Bintulu (Tatau and Bintulu) and Miri (Marudi) as well as Sabah: Pedalaman (Tenom, Kuala Penyu, Beaufort, Nabawan, Keningau and Tambunan), Pantai Barat (Papar) and Tawau (Tawau and Lahad Datu),” it said.

MetMalaysia issues warnings whenever signs indicate a thunderstorm with rain intensity exceeding 20mm that is close to or is expected to occur for more than an hour.

A thunderstorm warning is a short-term warning valid for a period not exceeding an hour for a single release.
