SHAH ALAM, Oct 19 — In conjunction with the Deepavali celebration, Menteri Besar Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari officiated the traditional floor design known as rangoli at the Selangor State Secretariat Building today.
The Menteri Besar also took the opportunity to light up a candle placed nearby the lotus-shaped rangoli.
The colourful rangoli was made of rice and is displayed in front of the state administration building.
Amirudin was accompanied by state executive councillor for housing Rodziah Ismail and Hijrah Selangor Foundation chief executive officer Datuk Seri Mohamad Suparadi Md Noor.
Rangoli is synonymous with the Deepavali celebration where its devotees would decorate their houses with it for prosperity.
