RS-1: State to fairly distributes economic benefits

SHAH ALAM, Aug 17 — The First Selangor Plan (RS-1) was introduced with specific planning together with clear measuring tools that can be evaluated within five years.

Angkatan Muda Keadilan Pandan division communication chief Mohd Fauzi Fadzil said the plan has proven the Selangor government is committed to developing the state without discriminating against any ethnic groups.

“Regardless of their background, the people of Selangor deserve to enjoy the initiatives and services as promised in RS-1. This indicates the state government upholds the spirit of equality in RS-1,” he said in a statement.

Mohd Fauzi added that RS-1 also acts as a new benchmark for the state government, and that no other states have endeavoured to bring such ideas into their administration.

“RS-1 can serve as the two-pronged method for the state’s administration, a very specific benchmark to each development sector, which would be closely monitored either by those in the ruling coalition or opposition.

“Should the state administration fail to meet each benchmark set under the plan, it would receive criticism. However, Menteri Besar Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari should be commended for his courage in facing criticism, should things not work out” he said.

Mohd Fauzi also reminded the state government to learn from the failure of the 11th Malaysia Plan, due to alack of autonomy in implementing the planned projects.

“Thus, RS-1 should learn (from the flaws of the 11th Malaysia Plan) and try to ensure autonomy and implementation power to local authorities, so they can jointly contribute to the implementation of the initiative,” he said.
