MBPJ organises furniture, electronics disposal programme for free

SHAH ALAM, March 6 — The Petaling Jaya City Council (MBPJ) is organising a disposal programme for furniture, electronics and various types of old items for free, starting yesterday until March 27.

It said it is organising the programme as a form of spring cleaning, in conjunction with the upcoming Hari Raya Aidilfitri celebrations, and will take in furniture such as sofas, chairs, tables, cupboards, beds, mattresses, and others which are still in good condition.

"Also accepted are electronic items including refrigerators, washing machines, televisions, and radios. We also accept shabby or no longer used bicycles.

"Items made of iron including cradles are also accepted, as well as glass products such as aquariums, vases, lamps, and others," MBPJ said in a statement.

It added only items that meet the specifications provided will be accepted on the collection day, and items such as broken glass products will be rejected.

"Residents are also reminded to package, label, and organise items properly, so they do not break. They must also inform the collection contractors, to prevent small accidents from occurring to workers.

"The items must be placed in front of their homes before 10am, and collection contractors will only pass by a route once in a given area," MBPJ said.

For more information on the locations, please contact the MBPJ Solid Waste Management and Cleanup Department at 03-79541440.
