SHAH ALAM, Jan 14 — KDEB Waste Management (KDEBWM) has requested flood victims remove any remnants of bulk waste from their respective homes by this Sunday (January 16) for collection and disposal.
Its managing director Ramli Mohd Tahir said the public's cooperation is needed to make it easier for garbage collection, following the start of the second phase of cleaning on January 8.
"We discovered that many have yet to remove bulk waste from their homes, such as (irretrievably damaged) tables and chairs. These items must be disposed of as the second phase began on January 8.
"Therefore, we ask the public to cooperate so the post-flood cleaning operations can go smoothly, and we can focus on clearing clogged drains and ditches," he told SelangorKini.
The state government subsidiary company, which fully manages the collection of domestic waste since last year, has been cleaning flood-affected areas since December 20 in stages.
An estimated 78,000 tonnes of bulk waste has been cleaned up, with the cooperation of local authorities and other agencies, and fully concluded on January 7.
