SHAH ALAM, Feb 4 — Letters from experts and efforts from all parties in addressing the Covid-19 pandemic should be taken into consideration, says Selangor Menteri Besar Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari.

He said the Federal government should include suggestions from medical experts and opposition members to address the pandemic.

“It is time we receive opinions through letters from experts. There are many letters from medical experts regarding our approach in handling Covid-19 issues.

“They are very detailed and technical so (all) these opinions from the Technical Committees should be proposed and be merged for us to come up with stronger solutions,” said Amirudin during a live discourse hosted by Opposition leader Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim on Facebook today.

Amirudin said being in a state of emergency should mean welcoming contributions from all quarters to fight the pandemic.

“If we are talking about using this emergency situation to overcome the Covid-19 disaster, then allow all the parties to get involved. Otherwise, the imposition of restrictions to disallow Parliament and state legislative assembly sittings from proceeding during the emergency is honestly quite blatant,” he said.

Amirudin said members from the opposition should also be involved in contributing their efforts in the fight against the pandemic nationwide.

“Get the opposition to come in, not just call up the Menteri Besar. There are also the former Health Minister and other medical experts. So, get all of them at once to explain further about steps to address the problem,” he added.

The one-hour virtual talk also featured Negeri Sembilan Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Aminuddin Harun and Penang Chief Minister Chow Kon Yeow.
