SEPANG, Jan 20 — The Covid-19 Quarantine and Low Risk Treatment Centre (PKRC) in Serdang is expected to reduce the load on hospitals in accommodating Covid-19 patients.
Selangor Menteri Besar Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari said the Malaysia Agro Exposition Park Serdang (MAEPS) was reopened in December last year and has 9,000 beds.
“This PKRC is growing into an integrated treatment centre for Covid-19 patients with the collaboration of the Health Ministry (MOH) and the National Disaster Management Agency (Nadma) as well as a few other departments.
“It is now the first treatment and quarantine centre in Malaysia which provides various facilities. I also believe it will help lighten the burden faced by hospitals at the moment,” Amirudin said.
He was met after visiting the quarantine centre along with Selangor state secretary Dato’ Mohd Amin Ahmad Ahya, yesterday.
Also present were Selangor State Health Department director Datuk Dr Sha’ari Ngadiman, and PKRC MAEPS 2.0 director Dr Shahabuddin Ibrahim.
Previously, the centre was open from March until July last year and had began to operate again on December 6, 2020
It is now known as the PKRC MAEPS 2.0.
On January 24, the MAEPS integrated hospital will begin treating Covid-19 patients under categories three, four and five to stabilise their condition before sending them off for hospital treatment.
